[ Mike Stansbery fotos ]
These are all "Real Film" photographs that Mike scanned and sent along
to me. Mike sent these to me a long,
long time ago. That these were so late in being
put up on the web site is a testament to my Black Belt in Procrastination.
For a frame of reference: These images are from the mid-1970's on into the early 80's.
If anyone can specifically date an image, I want to hear from you.
First are presented a series of 'snaps' of
UBSC folks -- at work and while partying. Next is a
picture of the
UBSC "
BITS" Men's softball team. Lastly is a 1982
UBC
calendar and a
UBSC picture collage.
Enjoy!
Mike made comments on some of the images he sent me. Those are set off in "quotation marks".
Also set off in "quotes" with attribution are comments sent in by others.
Bill Caffrey, Jim Stokes, and Marv DeSelm identified some of the names Mike could not remember.
Unquoted text is my own prattle.
Corrections, or amplifications to what you see below to Jonesy:
So, we begin with pictures of
Mike, himself -- from those days of yore.
Above we see Mike toasting some 'significant event' with what is very likely another
UBSC 'celebrant'.
Next we see a
B&W picture of
Mike from - I believe - an
early 1970's
UBSC picnic in Progress Park on West Belleview at Big Dry Creek.
Hugh Cunningham
Another head of hair.
Those were the days. sigh...
The calendar reads "December", but we know not what year.

What's a 17-year old doing at the terminal?

"The '
CRJE room' with
Sandy Joppa, Gary Antrim and a young lady whose name escape me.
Talk about history!
"This pic must have been taken just after the CRJE terminals were replaced with
the Ratheon CRT's. Note the CRJE R.I.P tombstone on the chalkboard. It even shows the dates, but I
can't quite read them.
"Judging from the notes to the right of the
chalkboard, we were just moving all the PL/1 compilers into production. Those were the days!"
CRJE:

Entry -- later replaced by TSO.
I cropped out, blew up, and tried to sharpen the "CRJE tombstone" that Mike referred to above -- see below.
My image manipulation Fu is not up to fictional TV standards, but I read:
C R J E
1975 - 19??
REST IN
PIECES
The ending year number looks like it's been erased and written over several times. I do remember that
CRJE was scheduled for elimination several times.
Before CRJE we used keypunches -
OH, JOY!
Now for some more
UBSC people pictures, but this time in a "Party Environment".
I know not what saloon or tavern where these were taken. They all seem to be from the same setting.

Mike Stansbery's comment on the party pictures: "Mike Stansbery liked his Tequila (and still does!)"
And now a picture of the
UBSC BITS baseball team
"Note:
BITS record that year was 0 wins, 16 losses, 1 tie. It was circa 1975"

"We did have two men's teams though. The other team was called the
Bytes. Eager to prove that
it really doesn't take 8 bits to make a byte, a bunch of us Byte bench sitters formed our own team, the
Bits. Our record forever solidified the fact that, at least in terms of softball teams, it does
indeed take a minimum of 8 bits to make a byte."

Mike also sent some images of the 1982
UBC calendar -- which featured photographs taken by
UBC employees.
Two of Mike's photographs were chosen and appeared on the February and October pages.

He laid out all the pages and photographed them -- January through December.
"The 1982 Employee Calendar - all calendar photos taken by
United Banks of Colorado employees.
"Jan: Martin Bronstine, Feb:
Mike Stansbery, Mar: Ron Frager, Apr: Martin Bronstine, May: Martin Bronstine, Jun: Karen Van Lewen,
Jul: Ron Frager, Aug: Jacque Bassett, Sep: Marilyn Webb, Oct:
Mike Stansbery, Nov: Roslyn Turner, Dec: Martin Bronstine"
Here are Mike's two calendar pages in larger detail:

Mike's photo for February.
Notice that the
UBC slogan du jour in 1982 was "Challenging Ourselves".

Mike's Photo for October.
Lastly, Mike sent a large'ish B&W collage that covered
UBSC "activities".
The image he sent was more than twice the size you see here. I've cropped out the various
sections of the full image for better viewing.
