1926 - 2011

Bernard Lyons Robertson (also known as Bernie or “Red”), 85, passed away peacefully at Glen Ayr Health Center in Lakewood, Colorado on August 15, 2011.

He joins his wife of almost 60 years, Betty Jean Robertson, in heaven.

Bernard served in the US Navy in World War II, much of his time in service spent on the USS Beckham. He participated in both the assault and occupation of Iwo Jima, and the occupation of Okinawa. He served from June of 1944 to June of 1946.

He enjoyed a long and happy career as a jazz musician, both in California and in the Denver area. He played trumpet for many bands over the years, ending his musical career in the late 1980s.

Bernie Robertson He also retired from a career in banking customer service from United Bank Service Company in the early 1990s.

He is survived by a daughter, Dina Eledge, son-in-law Michael Eledge, grandsons Lee and Adrian Eledge all of Arvada, CO, half-sister Marlene Lehto of Barstow, CA, along with nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery in staging area B.
