David Alan Trantham, age 82, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. David was born March 3, 1940.

Here are memories posted on the obituary website by Mike Stansbery and Steve DesMarteau:
Dave and I worked together for many years at the United Banks Service Company. I really enjoyed the philosophical discussions that he and I would have when we would meet for lunch -- even after I left UBSC.

I have many good memories of Dave. One memory I have of Dave is one with his young children. I discovered a large tiger salamander in a basement window well one year, and asked Dave if his kids would enjoy having it for the summer. So for the next several years whenever the salamander would come out of hibernation and appear in my window well, I would give it to Dave's kids to stay at the "Trantham Summer Camp" where the kids would keep it supplied with lots of tasty grasshoppers until Fall when it would be returned to my basement window well to hibernate once again.

-- Mike Stansbery

Dave worked for me for a number of years at UBSC. Dave was one of the good guys and had a mind of his own. I remember fondly our discussions. Dave would come to me with a question. I would give him my input, try to convince him of my way of thinking and always leave deciding to do it his way. Dave never budged. Over the years I just said his way was right. It saved some time for sure. Dave was a great person and I always enjoyed our discussions on non work issues.

Here is a memory passed on by Ed Ferber in an email:
Dave and I worked together long ago. He was sort of my mentor when I joined the Systems Department at Denver US National Bank - pre-United Bank days. He was a very patient trainer and knowledgeable on the NCR 315 language and technical workings. I remember the comfort of this older gentleman having my back during some stressful times - I'm pretty sure Dave wasn't yet 30!

By the time UBSC was a thing, he and I had gone our separate ways applications-wise. We didn't interact much after that, but I have always remembered Dave as a kind and thoughtful person.

-- Ed Ferber
