United Banks' Residue
Fossil evidence of UBC, UBD, UBSC

Presented here is evidence gathered that proves there once was a
UBC, UBD, UBSC.
Personal sightings by Jonesy:
In 2005 I moved from Gunnison to Pueblo. As I poked around Pueblo -
getting the lay of the land - I came across the following items:

The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in downtown Pueblo has a 'Donors Wall'
on the outside grounds with 8" square, fired clay tiles inscribed with donors' names.
I found the United Bank Of Pueblo
here -- having given at the $10,001-$20,000 level.
Columbia Savings & Loan - our old neighbors across the parking lot -
has a tile here, too.

One of the places I sometimes eat breakfast at Musso's Restaurant
in Avondale -- about 3 miles east of me and 8 miles ESE of downtown Pueblo.
Here we can still find an old United Bank sign in
the window. It is cracked/crazed from time. But, being in a north-facing window no
doubt has helped it endure the passage of time.
The illegible (here) text beneath the "United Bank" says
"Challenging Ourselves" -- which might set the time frame for when this went on the window.
UPDATE October 2015: Mike Stansbery reports that a 1982 UBD calendar
has the cover page containing the phrase "Challenging Ourselves" slogan -- which should mean the decal
went on the window sometime in the first or second quarter of 1982.
After my move to Pueblo in 2005 more "fossils" came my way in my volunteer work at the
Pueblo Friends Of The Library used book store,
Books Again, in Pueblo:

I found this
UB Pueblo
minibank receipt dated March 13, 1978
that had been used as a bookmark in a science fiction paperback donated to
Books Again in May of 2008.
So non-Y2K Compliant!

This paperback was included in a donation of books to the same
Books Again book store, in the Summer of 2018.
It was a special printing of
The Price Waterhouse Guide To The New Tax Law
paperback for 1986 (ISBN 13: 978-
0553-26-590-3)
commissioned by United Bank to be given out to customers.
After getting this image, it was sent on to recycling. heh...
GUESS WHAT?
Exactly a year later - in another book donation - the bookstore received the 1988/1989 edition
of The Price Waterhouse Personal Tax Adviser paperback
(ISBN 10: 0-553-28018-X)
-- once again commissioned by
United Bank.
This time the back cover contained more United Bank-centric language.
See below:
It was apparent that it had never been read. It, too, was sent on to recycling.
eBay
As you know, you can find most anything on eBay. And, it's a great place to
find United Bank fossils! Some day when you're bored, go to eBay and
use their search for [ "United Bank" ].

This Zippo lighter was seen by your webmaster in an eBay sale
in January, 2019 at a "Buy It Now" price of $39.95. It was touted as a "Vintage 1976 Zippo Lighter" in the sale. Old Zippos are
collectors items and that was probably the focus of this sale.
Dunno if it was something the United Bank of Lakewood had commissioned,
or if "Dave Rice" had done on his own.

Also found on eBay (Jan'19) was this
United Bank Broncos booster button.
The "Buy It Now" price was $7.64 -- which seemed a bit high after their 2018-2019 season.

Key Ring! on eBay (Jan'19) at a "Buy It Now" price of $9.16.

A United Bank Tower Key Ring!
on eBay (Jan'19) at a "Buy It Now" price of $25.

Like I said above, you can find just about anything on eBay.
Here we see a home-made, wooden running trophy from the
United Bank of Monaco (Jan'19 $12.74).
"4 MILE HISTORIC PARK RUN" -- "2ND PLACE MEN 50 AND OVER"

This United Bank tee shirt was spotted
by your webmaster in January, 2019, on Esty for sale by a "vintage tee shirt" shop.
The price was $10.
Looks great after 30++ years!! There very well may have been closets full of such brand new tee
shirts in the various branch banks when Norwest bought out
The United Banks of Colorado ... & may be the source of this tee shirt.

In March, 2020 I received an email from Jim and Kathee Peet, in which
they passed along a picture of a United Bank brass and leather
coaster found on eBay.

Prompted by the Peet's discovery (above), your webmaster trawled through eBay with a search
on "United Bank" and found this sewing kit (for $10) that the
UB of Colorado Springs probably had created for the
"Welcome" kit handed out to the Shriners at their 1972 convention.
OK, my standard request goes here: I need material for this
page from you. Send me an email and we can discuss what you've
found in the wild and how we can get an image of it up on the web
site:
