Memorabilia (pg.1 of 3)
Here you'll find pictures and scans of All Things UBSC
that you should remember. The memorabilia has been broken into three web pages to
speed up page load. The memorabilia is no particular order, and there'll be a link
at the bottom to go onward to the next page.
However, for the impatient:
Commentary -- everywhere -- is by Marvin Jones, unless set out in "quotes" with attribution.
Stuff from Jonesy's spider-infested basement museum:

Remember the "Better Air Campaign"?
I believe these cups were a fallout from Dick Watt's participation on the
Denver Better Business Bureau.

Remember Jack Lea's United Way auctions? I bought a 30 lb. box of those
blank marble bases at an auction back in about 1996. Still have'm.
UBSC 20TH ANNIVERSARY - 1991
MARV JONES

The UBSC logo was different and
distinct from the corporate logo. It was a "vacuous" set of "interlocking nuts" --
versus the solid version of UBD and the rest.
My first set was in error, and Candy Udland (now Candy Slavec) -- the
Systems Department secretary -- reordered the 'correct' ones for me.

Keyring. ....which I still use to haul around all the "Store Loyalty Cards" I have.

This is a button/badge that's been hanging off a magnet on my
refrigerator for years. It's 2.5 inches in diameter. I cannot remember when I got
it, nor for what 'event' it was allocated.

A "UBSC OLD TIMER" button that was passed
out for the 20th anniversary celebration of the company.
Those of us that had been there from Day 1 -- or from very early in the 1970's --
got the added ribbon.
Of course, the 'celebration' was somewhat somber, because it wasn't really
UBSC anymore.
I've had this United
minibank Play Money kicking around with some
of my other UBSC memorabilia for years.
I forget if there were some other 'denominations'.

Treasures from Joannie Barnes' steamer trunk:

UBSC pennant.
These were seen flying from the cubicle walls in Customer Relations.

It seemed like 'they' deluged us with promotional material in the latter years of
UBC/UBSC.
Gary Antrim: "What Goes 'Round - Comes Around" --
again, eventually, sooner or later.
In 1972, Gary stood in awe as UBSC's first IBM MainFrame was rolled
up the ramp into the Computer Room. Three-plus decades later, Gary was selling the front panel
from one of these on his NewBegin.com
auction web site.
Gary: "Just received a 1971 IBM 370 model 155 ... and posted it at web site. It should bring
wonderful memories from the most powerful machine from 32+ years ago when we had no gray hair."

This is the "Tastefully-Framed, Ready-To-Hang" IBM SYS/370 Model 155 front panel that Gary was featuring on
his auction web site.
Wouldn't this look good on your living room wall?
But, Wait! There's more!©
